Mrs. Martha Aasen
Mrs. Martha Aasen, wife of John P Aasen, one of the early pioneer of Douglas county, passed away at the home of her stepson, Ole Aasen, in Holmes City township Friday morning of cerebral hemorrhage.  Mrs. Aasen had reached the advanced age on 97 years, 1 month and 29 days.

She was born at Trysil, Norway, May 21, 1831 and came to America with Per Aas in 1867.  She made her home with him until she was united in marriage to John P. Aasen, who survives her.  Besides her husband she is survived by two stepchildren, Peter Aasen of Oakes, N. Dak., and Ole of Holmes City and also three sisters in Norway and a brother Per Soberg of Lakeville, Minn.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the house and 2:30 from the Trysil church.  Rev. Vaage of Farwell conducted the services.  The pallbearers were:  Carl Lordalen, Peter Sogarden, Halvor and Per Soberg, Einer Olson and Einer Steen.  Interment was made in the church cemetery.
