Johannes L. Myhre, one of the oldest pioneers of this community, passed away this morning. Mr. Myhre had been in poor health all summer but his condition took a sudden change for the worse about two weeks ago and he passed away peacefully at 4:35 this morning. He was 79 years, 7 months and 28 days old at the time of his death.
Mr. Myhre was born at Trysil, Norway on Jan. 1, 1856, and came to the Thirteen Towns in the fall of 1883. He was united in marriage to Amanda Torosen on Oct 22, 1894. One son, John Myhre, and one daughter, Mrs. John L. Duitman, preceded him to the grave. His widow survives him.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Snustad Undertaking Parlors at 1:30 and from the Dovre Lutheran Church at 2 o’clock on Sunday afternoon. Burial will be made at the Dovre Cemetery.

On 13 Aug 1882 when Johannes Larsen was 28, he first married Mina Embretsdtr ØSTBY (PERS), daughter of Embret Embretsen ØSTBY (PERS) (21 Mar 1838-2 Jul 1901) & Berte Halvorsdatter ENGEMOEN (26 Oct 1842-25 Feb 1923), in Nora Church, Wiser Twp, Cass Co, ND. Mina was born on 4 Mar 1865 in Trysil, Hedmark, Norway. Date and place of Mina’s death is unknown.
They had one child: Johannes Marius (1885-1929)
- John (Johannes Marius) Myhre was born 25 Aug 1885 at Winger, MN to Johannes Larsen and Mina Embretsdtr. John M. died at age 44 on 14 Nov 1929 at Sunburst, MT. He married Tilda B. Grendahl and they had a son Roy William, born 22 Aug 1919. John and Tilda separated and Roy lived with his mother in North Dakota; John went to work as a carpenter in Canada and live with Østby relatives. About 1928, Roy went to live with his father in Canada. John became sick and was being transported across the border to Montana for medical help and died enroute in 1929.
22 0ct 1894 in Clay county, MN when Johannes Larsen was 39, he second married Amanda TØRAASEN /TOROSEN, daughter of Halvor Pedersen TØRAASEN /TOROSEN / THORSON & Anna Marie HALTBACKEN, also from Trysil, Norway.
They had one child; Hilda Marie Josephine (1894-<1935) and adopted Esther Helene Maria (1897- ?)
