Ola E. Lobeck

Ola E. Lobeck was born in Trysil, Osterdalen, Norway, April 23, 1855. He was the son of Engebret Lobeck and Inger Olson. He came to America with his parents in 1867 and settled in Douglas county. He attended the public schools and worked on the farm until April, 1893 when the farm was sold and he moved to Farwell, running a store for awhile and later a shoe shop.

In 1897 he made his home with his brother, E.E. Lobeck and family and moved with them to Alexandria in 1902, where he has lived since, with the exception of a few months in Minneapolis.

He became an inmate of the Bethany Home in the spring of 1923. He died at the Home August 13, 1934 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 20 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss two brothers, I.E. Lobeck of Appam, N.D. and Rev. John E. Lobeck of Aniwa, Wisc., two sisters, Mrs. O. Refsdal of Cook, Minn. and Mrs. Carrie Peterson of Williston, ND. The funeral will be held this afternoon at the Bethany Home and interment will be at Kinkead Cemetery.

In 1887, Ole Lobeck was the general utility mechanic here. He understood the intricacies of bicycle repairing, picture framing and cobbling. He was proficient in all these lines and he had a very good business here.
