Martin I. Johnson Dies: Funeral Held Saturday

Funeral services for Martin I. Johnson were held on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Trysil Lutheran church with Rev. H.J. Schey officiating. Priscilla Myhr, accompanied by Mrs. Joseph Hoium, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “O Shall We Gather There”.

The pallbearers were Emil Gulbranson, Oliver Gulbranson, Louis Larson, victor Skoglund, Oscar Nygaard and George Olson. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Martin I. Johnson passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, at his home in Alexandria.

Martin I. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Johnson, was born on Dec. 24, 1871, at Madison, Wis. He grew up in Madison and worked at different places there until he moved to Holmes City township and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He attained the age of 82 years, 7 months and 9 days at the time of his death.

He was married to Paula Pederson, who passed away many years ago.

He was baptized and confirmed at McFarland, Wisc, by Rev. Adolph Bredeson.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Wilken of Black Earth, Wisc., and 2 brothers, Nels johnson and Luvine Johnson, both of Badger, Minn. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
