Anton Hanson

Anton Hanson passed peacefully away at his home on South Broadway December 4 at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 10 days. He was born in Faaberg, Lillehammer, Norway, Feb. 21, 1858.

At the age of 26 he came to this country, settling in Holmes City. December 28, 1894 he was married to Olena Pederson. Mrs. Hanson passed away March 8, 1936.

He is mourned by a foster daughter, Selma, and by four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 1:30 o’clock at the Engstrom Funeral Home and at 2:30 at Trysil church near Holmes City. He was laid to rest beside his wife in the church cemetery. Rev. Sheldahl of Farwell conducted the services. Priscilla Myhr sang two solos in Norwegian at the church service and Myrtle Shogren sang “Abide With Me”. Mrs. Gust Johnson sang “Rock Of Ages” at the funeral home.

The pallbearers were Edward Nelson, Emil Shogren, Halvor Solberg, Peter Omland, Enoch Johnson and Henry Myhr.
