Pioneer Resident of County Died Thursday
Syver Olsen Femrite, one of the pioneer residents of this county, passed away at his farm home in Holmes City township, last Thursday, Sept 28.  Although he had been in ill health for 1 ½ yrs, he was only confined to his bed a short time before death.

Mr. Femrite was born in Dane Co, Wisconsin, Aug 6, 1848, and died at the age of 74 yrs 1 mo and 22 days.  When a young man, in 1873, he came to Holmes City township.  In 1878 was united in marriage to Miss Guro Gjelstad (Jorgenson).  In 1879 they homesteaded the farm place which has ever since been their home.

Surviving are his aged widow and seven children.  They are:  Mrs. Bertha Johnson of Mpls, Henry Femrite, Mrs H. Myhr, Mrs. Anna Mauseth, Miss Jennie Femrite, Sander and Grant Femrite, all of whom live near the old home.  There are 2 brothers, Ole Femrite of Williams Co, ND, and Jens Femrite of Madison, Wis, one sister, Mrs. Peder Hansen of Bloomer, Wis.  All of the children were present for the funeral, as were also the brother Jens, and sister, Mrs. Hanson.

Funeral services were held from the Trysil church Saturday aft, Rev. O. Gornitzka officiating.  The many old friends and relatives of Mr. Femrite filled the church to capacity.  Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Note:  In 1871 Sjur was married to Maggie Burnson and they came together to Douglas County.  She died in 1876.  Bertha is a child of that marriage.     GL
