Stanley Femrite

Stanley Orville Gerhard Femrite, 86, a resident of Alexandria,
Minnesota, died on Monday, May 19, 1997 at the Knute Nelson Memorial
Home in Alexandria.

Stanley was born on July 15, 1910 on the family farm in Ben Wade
Township, Pope County, Minnesota, the son of Henry Louis and Olive
(Sogaarden) Femrite. He attended the District #26 school in Pope County
through the 8th grade and also the Norwegian Lutheran parochial school.
Stanley was a farmer all of his life, first on his parents farm and
later on his own farm in Douglas County.

On June 14, 1941, Stanley was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Swenson
in Farwell (Farwell Lutheran Church). The couple lived on their farm in
Holmes City Township for 47 years until moving to the Royal Manor
Apartments in Alexandria in 1988. Stanley became a resident of Knute
Nelson Memorial Home in February of 1991 and Ruth Marie in January 1995.
They enjoyed many friendships there together and celebrated 55 years of
marriage in June of 1996. Ruth died on March 31, 1997.

While growing up, Stanley attended Trysil Lutheran Church. He was a
member of that church where he held various offices until it disbanded
in 1962. He then became a member of St Paul’s Lutheran of Lowry. At
the time of his death Stanley was a member of the Ben Wade Covenant
Church of Lowry and had been for many years. He was also faithful in
attending chapel services at Knute Nelson Memorial Home.

Stanley will be remembered for his quiet sense of humor, his
generosity and the enjoyment he received and gave by remembering the
birthdays of friends and family. He had a lifelong fondness for
baseball, as a player and umpire, and later in following the Twins on
radio and TV. He always expressed a great interest and pride in the
lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and will be
greatly missed by all.

Stanley is survived by a son, Rodney and wife ArLou Femrite of
Alexandria; two daughters: Gloria and husband Kenneth Lundblad of
Alexandria; Audrey and husband Daniel Waage of Alexandria; ten
grandchildren: Michael and Ana Femrite, Jeff, Robbie and Elizabeth
Lindner, Jeffrey and wife Kristi Lundblad, Jamey Lundblad, Karl, Erik,
Levi and Joel Waage; four great grandchildren: Phanalai, Bun, Michael
and Martha Lindner; brother Murville Femrite of Hoffman; brother-in-law,
Ted and wife Sandy Swenson of Farwell; sister-in-law Alice Ann and
husband Owen Mathre of Wilmington, DE; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Marie; infant
daughter Joyce Marie; and two brothers; Harvey and Orlando Femrite.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 22, 1997, 2 pm, at Ben
Wade Covenant Church in Lowry with Reverend David Wallin and Reverend
Russell Osterberg officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Laurie Musselman and soloists, Joyce
Blair and Pam Anderson.

Pallbearers were Michael Femrite, Jeff Lindner, Robbie Lindner,
Jeffrey Lundblad, Jamey Lundblad, Karl Waage, Erik Waage and Levi Waage.

Honorary Pallbearers were Joel Waage, Kristi Lundblad, Ana Femrite,
Elizabeth, Phanalai, Bun, Michael and Martha Lindner.

Interment was at the Trysil Cemetery. Services were directed by
Petermeier’s Alexandria Funeral Home.
