Last Rites Held For Olive Femrite

Funeral services for Mrs Olive Femrite were held Thursday, March 2, at
2 pm from the Trysil Lutheran church. Rev H.N.Schey officiated.

Miss Priscilla Myhr sang “Behold a Host Arrayed in White” in Norwegian
and Mrs Floyd Anderson sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “The Old Rugged
Cross”.

Casket bearers were Marcus Reece, Reuben Myhr, Harold Myhr, Elvin
Gulbranson, Gerald Olson and Theodore Swenson.

She was laid to rest in the family plot in Trysil Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs Femrite was born in Holmes City township, Douglas county, Aug 13,
1879, of the parents, Ole and Oline Sogaarden, and died suddenly Sunday
afternoon, Feb 26, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 13 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in Trysil Lutheran church and a
lifelong member of the congregation, active in the various organizations
of the church. She attended the local public school and the Glenwood
academy.

She was united in marriage to Henry L. Femrite June 26, 1907, at
Trysil Lutheran church by Rev B.A.Benson. To this union was born four
sons, Stanley, Murville, Harvey and Orlando. Mr Femrite died Jan 14,
1950.

She is survived by four sons, Stanley of Lowry, Murville of Farwell,
Harvey of Howard Lake, Minn and Orlando of Fargo, ND; one sister (Marie)
Mrs Ole Finstad of Brainerd, Minn, and 18 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Oline Sogaarden, her
husband, Henry L Femrite, five sisters, Lillie, Julia, Christine, Bertha
and Helen and four brothers, Albert, Olaf, Martin and Peter.

Olive was born as the fourth daughter in the Sogaarden family. Together
with her sisters she participated in the daily work that their mother
delegated. She was involved in various organizations and was an active
member of the Trysil Lutheran Church in Homes City twp. She worked for
awhile with her sister Lillie in Minneapolis.

Olive was married to Henry Louis Femrite, who also was from Holmes City
twp. They celebrated their double-wedding anniversary together with
Olive’s sistser Albertha and her husband Andrew Reece. Henry Louis was
the son of Guro (Julia) Jorgenson and Sivert Femrite. Olive and Henry
were farmers and Henry also participated actively in the community
tasks. They settled in Ben Wade twp, Pope County. They had 4 children:
Stanley Orville Gerhard, Murville Jewell, Harvey Odell, and Orlando
Percival.

Henry died in 1950. Olive died at the home of Mina Foss in Minneapolis
in 1961. (Mina Foss was born Kjærnet, and had emigrated from Nybergsund
in 1902. Her mother was a sister of Ola Sogaarden. ) Olive and Henry
are buried in the family cemetery at the Trysil Lutheran Church
Cemetery, Holmes City twp.
