Olinus lived his first nine years after immigration with his parents and siblings in Holmes City township, Douglas Co, MN. He was confirmed in Trysil church in Holmes City township on 7 Nov 1875.

Olinus worked as a lumberman cutting timber, as a farmer and doing odd jobs.  He was widowed early and lived alone at the time of his death.

Services Sunday for Olivus (sic)  Thorson

Funeral services were held for Olivus H.P. Thorson at the Zion church in Debs Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Fred Sommars presenting the sermon.  Burial was made in the Zion Lutheran cemetery.

Olivus H.P. Thorson, 85 years of age, passed away March 31, at his home in Alaska township.

He was born in Norway, Aug 7, 1857 and came to southern Minnesota at the age of 12, living there and in North Dakota for a period of seven years before coming to this area and becoming a resident of Alaska township. He had been employed as carpenter, farmer and timber worker.

Surviving are his son William H. Thorson of Charles City, IA; one sister, Mrs. Hulda Goodboe of Minneapolis; one brother, Christ Thorson of Pinewood; 12 nieces and nephews, and two grandchildren.
