Victim of Accident Dies From Injuries
Peder Sorenson, 72, New Solum Pioneer, Passes Away at Home Saturday

Peder Sorenson, residing north of Rosewood in New Solum township, brother of John Sorenson of this city, passed away suddenly last Saturday from internal injuries sustained in an accident august 10, when he was attacked by an angry bull. Following the accident he was taken to the Physicians hospital and was apparently improving despite the severe injuries and old age. He was brought back to his home near Rosewood Tuesday of last week and was getting better until Saturday when he complained of internal pains. Dr. Froelich was summoned and it was decided to take him to the hospital but he weakened noticeably during the afternoon and died as he was about to be placed on the truck. His body was taken to Larsen Undertaking parlors to be prepared for burial, which took place yesterday at the Ringdal cemetery.

Mr. Sorenson was born in Tryssel, Norway, on May 8, 1851, being at his death slightly over 72 years old. He was married to Ingeborg Halvorson, also of Tryssel in 1874, and immigrated to the United States in 1885, coming first to Fargo, N.D. He lived there only a year when he moved to this section and homesteaded the farm which has since been his home.

Mrs. Sorenson died seven years ago. To this union were born thirteen children, of which three boys and four daughters survive: Mrs. George Anderson of Warren (MN), Mrs. John Larson of Wymore, Sask. Canada, Mrs. Adolph Haugen of Rosewood, Mrs. A. F. Stroble of Angus, Mrs. Selmer Haugen of Rosewood and Mrs. Dave Mosbeck of Crookston. Besides these survivors are: one brother, John Sorenson of Thief River Falls and one sister, Mrs. Harry Smith of Appleton, Minn., twenty two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Sorenson, who was one of the pioneers of his community, was a highly respected neighbor and citizen and took an active interest in the community’s welfare and progress. The sympathy of many friends is extended to the bereaved family.
