Mrs. Krestine Simonson
Mrs. Krestine Simonson died at her home Friday afternoon at 1:25, the 17th day of September, 1937. She has been gradually failing in health for the last few years and about a week ago she became seriously ill. She died peacefully because she was glad to go and meet her redeemer. The cause of her death was hardening of the arteries and high blood pressure.

Krestine Simonson was born the 6th day of November 1858 at Trysil Prestejeld Norway. Her parents were Kersti (Audensdtr Nysæter) and Peder Nordby. She came to Douglas county in 1885. The same fall at the age of 27 years, she was united in marriage to Engebret Simonson.

They lived on a farm in Douglas county for about two years when they moved to Ben Wade township, Pope county, where they lived on the same farm for about 35 years. They sold that farm and moved to Starbuck where they lived for 12 years. For the last 3 years she has been living with her son, Peter, and daughter, Inga on the Peter Tollefson farm about one half mile east of Starbuck.

To this union were born six children, three daughters died in infancy. She is survived by Peter and Inga on the home farm; Anna (Mrs. Holmstedt) of Holmes City; her two step-children, Alma ( Mrs. Ole Westby) of Morris, and Edwin at Halliday, N.D., two grandchildren, Vernon and Earl Simonson. She is also survived by four sisters and one brother, of whom one sister is still in Norway.

Mrs. Simonson was at the time of her death 78 years, 10 months and 11 days of age. Mrs. Simonson died Dec. 6, 1924.

Mrs. Simonson was a kind and devoted mother, loved by all. She had a kind word and a smile for everybody. A vacant place was left which never can be filled. It was hard to see her leave us, our mother, but now she is home in her everlasting home rejoicing with her Savior.

Rest in peace dear mother and sister, in the matter of a short time we will see you there glorified and what a bliss. No more partings for us.

Funeral services were held Tuesday. Rev. O.C. Dahlager and Rev. M.C. Johnshoy officiated.

She was laid to rest at the Minnewaska cemetery. The pallbearers were Martin rye, C.M. Pederson, Melvin Colby, Axel Holmstedt, Anton Romsaas and Julius Hagestuen. — Starbuck Times.
