Mrs. Olav Refsdal Rites Wednesday

Mrs. Olav Refsdal, 76, wife of Reverend Olav Refsdal and a resident of Cook since 1918, died late Saturday evening at the home of her son, Arthur.

Inger Lobeck was born on April 20, 1868*, at Farwell, Minnesota. She became the wife of Rev. Olav Refsdal on June 24, 1893, and the couple left for Escanaba, Michigan, where Rev. Refsdal had his first pastorate. Since that time, Rev. and Mrs. Refsdal have served the pastorates at Fosston, Minn., Ishpeming, Mich., Chetek and Deer Park, Wisconsin, coming to Cook in 1918. Here they settled on a farm in the woods four miles north of the village where they made their home. They have lived here continuously with the exception of short periods spent with some of their children.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles A. Fritz, officiating. Following this service, the body was taken to Fosston, Minn., by Cron-Leding mortuary, where services were held Wednesday in the Church of Hope with the Rev. T.H. Mergorden officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery in Fosston.

Surviving are her husband, Rev. Olav Refsdal; three daughters, Mrs. S.A. Ause, EauClaire; Mrs. Carl Ardin and Mrs. Carl Carlson of Cook; five sons, Arthur and Anfinn, of Cook; Palmer, Minneapolis, Pfc. Ansgar, Fort Meade, Maryland, S-Sgt. Olaf, with the army in England; and 11 grandchildren.

In commenting on her passing, Rev. Fritz said: “In deep and heartfelt gratitude to God for a loving, patient, meek and quiet spirit, precious in the sight of God, the family worships before the throne of Grace, whither she has been called by her Saviour, in whom she humbly put her trust.”
