PEDER T OMLAND LAST RITES HELD AT HOLMES CITY

Funeral service for Peder T Omland were held Thursday, April 12 at 2 pm from the Trysil Lutheran church of Holmes City.  Rev H N Schey of Farwell officiated.  Miss Priscilla Myhr sang “The Great White Host” in Norwegian and “We Would See Jesus”  accompanied by Mrs H N Schey.

Pallbearers were Henry Grondahl, Carl Holm, Rueben Myhr, Sig Backlin, Reuben Wagenius and Jacob Olson.

Interment was made in the Trysil Lutheran cemetery.

Peder T Omland was born in Fjertland Sogn, Norway,  April 30, 1869, the son of Tonnes and Inga Kettleson.  He was baptized and confirmed and grew to manhood in Norway and when he was 19 years of age he immigrated to the United States. He spent several years working in South Dakota and Montana before coming to Douglas county.  On Nov 14, 1895 he was united in marriage to Olea Elefson who preceded him in death on March 16, 1900.

On Sept 23, 1901, he was united in marriage to Regina Christenson.  After their marriage they made their home on the farm west of Holmes City until 1939 when they moved to Holmes City.  Mrs Omland passed away on July 24, 1944, and for the past 12 years he has made his home with his son Oliver.

Mr Omland has been a member of the Trysil congregation for the past 51 years and has served many years as trustee.

He passed away Sunday afternoon, April 8 (7) at the home of his son at the age of 86 years, 11 months and eight days.

Surviving are one son, Oliver Omland and one daughter, Mrs Joseph Hoium.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, one sister Karen Sophie Sanvik and 7 nieces in Norway.
