Mrs. Nyhus Dies at Home of Daughter in Minneapolis
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 17 at two o’clock from the Free Mission church for Mrs. Johanna Nyhus, who died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Inga Berg of Minneapolis, Thursday, Dec 13.
Mrs. Nyhus was born in Trysil, Norway, Dec 27, 1846 and was 81 years, 11 months and 16 days old at the time of her death. In 1872, she was married to Ole Nyhus at Trysil, and in 1883 came from Norway to settle in Cass County. Two years later they moved to Rosewood where they lived until 1894 when they came to Thief River Falls where they made their home. Since last Spring Mrs. Nyhus has been living in Minneapolis with Mrs. Berg.
Mrs. Nyhus leaves three daughters to mourn her departure, namely Mrs. Inga Berg of Minneapolis, Mrs. Tina Butcher of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Brandon of this city, and nine grandchildren. Six daughters and two sons have proceeded her in death.
She was a member of the Free Mission Church and was active in different organizations of the church. She was a kindly neighbor and loving mother, well beloved by those with whom she associated.
The last services were read by Rev. J.C. Jacobson and interment was made at Greenwood cemetery. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Matt Brandon and Oscar Brandon of Middle River; Olaf Neby of Newfolden, and Mrs. B.B. Hammer of Kratko (?)
