MRS CLARA B NYGAARD

Funeral services for Mrs Clara B Nygaard were held Tuesday June 15, 1954 at 1:15 pm, from the family home and at 2:00pm from the Trysil Lutheran Church, Rev N H Schey officiating.  Miss Priscilla Myhr accompanied by Mrs Joseph Hoium sang “I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name,” at the home.  Leo Sylvester sang “Nearer My God to Thee” and “Jed Veed Meg in So ven in Jesus Navn,” at the church.

Pallbearers were her nephews, Lawny Wrolson, Slyvian Christianson, Obert Christianson, Elmo Nygaard, Julian Nygaard and Ralph Haabola.  Interment was in the Trysil Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Mrs Clara Nygaard died unexpectedly on Friday June 11, 1954 at 12am while visiting at the home of Ralph Haabola, at the age of 64 years, nine months, 17 days.

Clara B Christianson Nygaard, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Ole Christianson, was born August 2, 1889, in Walden Township.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev Nels Forde.  On July 1, 1911 she was married to Henry Nygaard by the late Rev Nels Forde.  After marriage they resided on their farm in Ben Wade Township.  Six children were born to this union.  Johnnie and Clifford on the home farm, Stanley of Parkers Prairie, Alice, Mrs Ed Russell of Buffalo.  Two daughters passed away in infancy.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.  One brother, Albert, died Monday morning June 14, 1954.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs Oscar (Olive) Nygaard of Farwell, and Miss Tillie Christianson of Starbuck.  Three brothers Oscar and Eli Christianson on the home farm, and Ferdinand Christianson of Cyrus, eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

There were many beautiful flowers and numerous memorial gifts given in her memory.  God bless her memory.
