Reuben Myhr, 90

Reuben Bennett Myhr was born October 16, 1907 in Holmes City Township to Henry and Tillie (Femrite) Myhr. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended School District 27. Prior to his marriage, Reuben worked in home construction.

On November 8, 1941, Reuben was united in marriage with Millie Roth at Carlos. The couple made their home on a farm south of Holmes City where they raised their two daughters, Pamela and Gayle. They were members of Trysil Lutheran Church.

In addition to farming, Reuben began employment in 1957 with the Douglas County Cooperative located in both Holmes City and Brandon. In 1967, Millie and Reuben moved to Brandon and became members of Grace Lutheran Church. Outside of his work, Reuben enjoyed fishing, woodworking, attending auction sales and refinishing antiques
.
Millie died in 1993 and Reuben became a resident of Crestview Manor at Evansville in 1995. He died at the St. Cloud Hospital on March 7, 1998. He was 90 years of age.

Surviving him are his two daughters: Pam Ogaard of Bismark, ND; Gayle Myhr of Tracy; two brothers: Harold and wife Louella Myhr of Farwell; sister, Martha Hjelm of Alexandria; and two grandchildren; Erik Ogaard of Minneapolis and Kirk Ogaard of Grand Forks, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie; brother, Clifton Myhr; and three sisters: Marie Johnson, Hilda Sholy and Sarah Soberg.

A funeral service was held March 10, 1998 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brandon with Reverend Alden Backman officiating. Jan Myhr was the organist and Reverend Nancy Larson, the soloist.

Interment was in Trysil Cemetery with Luther Myhr, Todd Myhr, Scott Myhr, Paul Nelson, Vernal Nelson and Omar Gustafson serving as pallbearers.

Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
