Peter O. Myhr
Peder Myhr, Holmes City pioneer, brief mention of whose death was made in last week’s issue, was born in Stjørdalen, Norway, June 11, 1854. He passed away June 2nd, 1932, at his home in Holmes City, being 77 yeaars, 11 months and 21 days at the time of his death.

Mr. Myhr left Norway by sailboat in May 1866, arriving at Durand, Ill., June 8th the same year. They drove overland from Illinois to Brandon, the trip taking them about one month.

He was united in marriage to Hannah Strandvold of Holmes City, December 19, 1877. They resided at Brandon for one year at which time they moved to North Dakota where they stayed a year, coming to Holmes City which was his home until the time of his death.

Seven children were born to this union, two having preceded him in death. Helga Marie burned to death when three and a half years old and Carl Albert died in 1918. Besides the widow, the following children survive: Christ (Ragna) Christopherson of Eugene, Oregon, Henry Myhr of Holmes City, Mrs. Rev. (Helga) Lindseth of Borup, Minn, and Priscilla and Martin on the home farm. There are also 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, also one sister, Mrs. Maria Saugstad of Bella Coola, B.C.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:00 from the residence and at 2:00 from the Trysil church, Rev. Vaage officiating, assisted by Rev. E.O. Lee and Rev. S.J. Lindseth. Miss Geraldine Hudson sang “No Night There”, Dr. K. O. Lee sang “Din Store Hvide Flok Vi Se”. There were many beautiful floral offerings and several gifts were given to missions and charities in his memory. The pallbearers were R.T. Omland, Peter Sogarden, Per Soberg, Halvor Soberg, Henry Femrite and Henry Nygaard. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
