Martin K. Myhr Rites Held Friday At Trysil Church

Funeral services for Martin K. Myhr were held on Friday, Sept. 26, at the family home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Trysil church at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Morris Ulring conducted a short service at the home. Mrs. Allen Torkelson, a niece, sang “My Jesus As Thou Wilt” and Pastor Ulring sang “Tank Naar Engang Hver Taage Er Forsevenden.”

Pastor Ulring officiated at the church. Pastor and Mrs. E.O. Lee of Fargo sang “Beyond the Sunset” and Allen Torkelson sang “Take My Hand Precious Lord.” Pastor E.O. Lee, a cousin, and Pastor S. J. Lindseth, a brother-in-law, closed with a few remarks.

The pallbearers were Lannie and Gerhard Isackson, Harry Soberg, David Anderson, Rowland Anderson and Oliver Omland.

Numerous gifts were given in his memory to the Trysil church and to missions.

Martin Konrad Myhr was born Dec. 19, 1898, in Holmes city township, Douglas county, of the parents Peder O. Myhr and Hannah Myhr. Here he grew to manhood and lived all his life on the old home farm.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and was a lifelong member of Trysil congregation. He served as deacon the last 13 years and also on the parsonage committee. He was a member of the local school board for 29 years.

He had been in failing health since last December. At times he rallied and hopes were held out for his recovery, but on Sept 16th he was stricken with cerebral hemmorrhage and was found unconscious near his mailbox after which he was taken to St. Lukes hospital in Alexandria where he passed away Sunday, Sept. 21st, at the age of 53 years, nine months and two days.

His parents, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure three sisters, Mrs. Christ Christofferson (Ragna) of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. S.J. Lindseth (Helga) of Duluth, Minn., and Priscilla Myhr at home, six nephews, 10 nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Flesberg, Mr. and Mrs. Gill Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mortenson, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Sholy, Mrs. Christ Olson, all from Fargo, Moorhead and vicinity, Elmer Strandvold from Nelson, Pastor and Mrs. S.J. Lindseth from Duluth, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Torkelson, Lynn, Ann, Susan and Jon from Washburn, Wis., Mrs. Jennie Huseby, Mrs. Stella Morrau from Battle Lake, Clifton and Lawrence Myhr from Minneapolis.
