Last Rites Held For Mrs. E. Lobeck In Minneapolis

Funeral services for Mrs. E.E. Lobeck, widow of the late Senator E.E. Lobeck, were conducted on Thursday morning, June 10, at the University Lutheran Church of Hope in Minneapolis. Chapel services in Alexandria and burial in the family plot at Kinkead took place in the afternoon.

Martha Nordby was born in Trysil, Norway on June 23, 1874, her parents being Per Nordby and Marthe Strandvold Nordby. With her parents she immigrated to America in 1885, settling near Harwood, N.D., where she lived until her marriage in 1896.

Mr. and Mrs. Lobeck moved to Alexandria from Farwell in 1902, where the family lived until 1923. Following the death of her husband she has made her home in Minneapolis.

Survivors are her 4 daughters and one son: Mrs. C.A. Thompson of Willmar, Mrs. C. Fred Hanson of this city, Mrs. T.H. Kahl of Peoria, Illinois, Mrs. Findley Burns, Jr. in Germany, and T.E. Lobeck of Minneapolis — also five grandchildren and two great grandsons and one brother, Peter Nordby.

Preceding her in death were her husband and one daughter, Genevieve.

Mrs. Lobeck gave much of her time and energy to the work of her church and its activites, serving as Ladies Aid president and Sunday School superintendent for many years in Alexandria. In Hope church she served as parish assistant, as organizer of the Glencar branch of the Sunday School and as director of the welfare program of the church. She was a life member of the Women’s Missionary Federation of the Lutheran church. She also held a life membership in the Minnesota WCTU, serving as president of the Alexandria district from 1909 to 1919.

The Rev. N.E. Bengston conducted the services here at the Anderson Chapel. Harold Bergby sang one hymn in English and one in Norwegian.

Acting as pallbearers were: James K. LeRoy, Iver Gulbrandson, Donald Lundgren, Harold Colbjornson, Clifford Johnson and Lloyd Johnson..
