Mrs. C.K. Lee, for 42 years a resident of this city, died on Saturday evening, June 21st. She had been in failing health for some time. Her husband had preceded her in death on May 15th, 1934.

Anne Lee, whose maiden name was Anne Berg, was born in Trysil, Norway, May 14th 1870, the daughter of Ole Berg and Martha Ostby. She arrived in Minnesota with her parents in 1880, locating first in Douglas county near Alexandria and moving to Hendrum a few years later.

In 1887 she was married to C.K. Lee, pioneer merchant of Hendrum. To this union were born twelve children as follows: Warren, Oscar, John, Clarence (who died January 22, 1942), Ruth (Mrs. L. Nelson), Harry, Clara, Florence (Mrs. L. Schornick), Merrill, Helen, Eleanor, and Jane (Mrs. D.C. Martin). In addition she raised two sons of Mr. Lee by a former marriage. There are eight grandchildren.

In 1905 the family moved to Ada where Mr. Lee served several terms as Register of Deed of Norman county, and later as Clerk of District Court.

During World War I, Mrs. Lee was very active in Red Cross work. She had five sons in the service in that war. Her youngest son served overseas in World War II. Mrs. Lee was also a charter member of the Ada Legion Auxiliary post.

Mrs. Lee was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and Ladies Aid and had been active in church affairs until her health failed. She had also taken an active part in WCTU work.

Funeral services were held in First Lutheran Church here Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. E.G. Larson conducting the service. “In the Garden” and “Abide With Me” were sung by Orville Onstad. Mrs. E.G. Larson was organist. She was buried beside her husband in the Ada cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herman Thune, Gilman Moe, J.B. Grothe, Ray Betcher, Jarl Sjordal, and Chester Ingberg, and Skaurud’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. All the children were here for the funeral rites with the exception of Harry, Merrill and Jane.
