Rosewood Resident Dies Leaving No Relatives
Funeral services for Mrs. Ingrid Nordhagen were conducted at the Rindal Norwegian church on Saturday afternoon with Rev. E.L. Tungseth of Thief River Falls officiating, and the Larson Undertaking company having charge of the arrangements. Rev. Tungseth delivered a fitting funeral sermon after which A.T. Thoreson and Olaf Bakken, old time neighbors of the deceased, gave brief tributes.

Mrs. Nordhagen was born in Tryssel, Norway, on March 4, 1848, and consequently was slightly over 80 years old. She emigrated to America together with her husband in 1881, coming then to Fargo, N. Dak., where they remained until 1884 when the lure of free homesteads brought them to this place. Mr. Nordhagen died in 1914 and after which Mrs. Nordhagen had resided chiefly in Rosewood village. At Thanksgiving last fall she had the misfortune of slipping on the frozen ground while carrying wood to her home and had been confined to a Thief River Falls hospital the greater part of the winter. The last few weeks she spent at the home of a neighbor, Thom Holten, and at which place she suffered a stroke of apoplexy* last Monday and died on Tuesday afternoon without regaining consciousness. There are no children or close relatives and her property will be probated.

Pall bearers at the funeral were Even Anderson, A.T. Thoreson, B.B. Sagmoen, J.E. Hellquist, I.M. Westby and T. Mellem. About one hundred persons attended.

* Death certificate lists cause of death as acute gastritis.

Mrs. Nordhagen left Will
Emil Anderson and Selmer Haugen of the local town board motored to Warren on Tuesday to file in the probate court papers in the late Ingrid Nordhagen estate. A will was found leaving the remaining property to Mrs. J.W Whitmark of Idaho, a former local girl who spent part of her girlhood prior to her marriage with Mr. and Mrs. Nordhagen. Probate court proceedings will be started at once and the matter may be cleared by next spring.

TRF Times, 24 May 1928, p5
In a letter to Mrs. Thom Hollten from Mrs. Joe Whitmark, heir through will to the late Ingrid Nordhagen estate, Mrs. Whitmark states that she and her husband may come to Rosewood sometime in July to take possession of the goods. The Whitmarks are now residents of Provo, Utah.
