Murville Femrite, 85

Murville J Femrite was born August 14, 1912 in Ben Wade Township of
Pope County, Minnesota, the son of Henry L and Olive (Sogaarden)
Femrite. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed his faith at
Trysil Lutheran Church.

Murville attended grade school at Pope County District 26. He later
attended the Norwegian Lutheran Parochial School and was a 1931 graduate of the West Central School of Agriculture. He then began farming with his father and brother.

On October 3, 1936, Murville was united in marriage with Clara
Stivland at Norunga Lutheran Church. Two sons and two daughters were
born to the couple. The family resided on a farm in Holmes City
Township for 38 years. In 1974, Murville and Clara retired and moved to
a home in LaGrande Township. They were active members of Trysil
Lutheran Church until 1962 when they became part of the First Lutheran
Church family in Alexandria.

Throughout his life, his work as a farmer and spending time with his
family were of special importance to him.

Clara died in December of 1994 and Murville became a resident of the
Good Samaritan at Hoffman two years ago. He died February 16, 1998 at the Douglas County Hospital. He was 85 years of age.

Murville is survived by his children: Cecelia Bowers of Midlothian,
VA; Elizabeth and husband Bob Nelson of New Prague; Luther and wife Iva Femrite of Farwell; Lyle Femrite of Mankato; 11 grandchildren: Kristen Kozitza, Ken Messersmith; Sarah, John and Jennie Nelson, Bryan, Brent, Robby, Jason, Stephanie and Justin Femrite; and three great grandchildren: Evangeline, Harlan and Arianna Kozitza.

Preceding Murville in death were his parents; wife, Clara; three
brothers; Stanley, Harvey and Orlando Femrite; and a daughter-in-law,
Barb (Roers) Femrite.

Funeral services were held at First Lutheran Church on February 19,
1998 with Pastor Keith Lentz and Pastor Ron Otterson officiating. Music
was provided by Pastor and Marlene Lentz.

Interment followed in Trysil Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were Jim Femrite, Tom Anderson, Ray Anderson, Rodney
Femrite, Sidney Stivland and Rodney Stivland. Murville’s grandchildren
were named honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria.
