Erik and Anne emigrated from Norway on 30 March 1868 as shown in the Grue, Norway churchbooks.  They left Norway with four children but two of them died as children.  In Lake Mary township, another son and daughter were born to them.  Erik and Anne farmed and raised their children.  When Anne died in 1900, Erik retired from farming and probably lived with his married children.  His youngest daughter, Emma, and her husband and family had taken land that year and moved to Koochiching county, MN. Erik’s granddaughter wrote many years later that he had given them two heifer calves which they raised so they could have milk, cream and butter.

Erik died in Minneapolis at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Joseph Løvaas.
