Mrs. A. Engemoen Laid to Rest

Martha Engemoen — born August twenty-third, 1843, died March twenty-sixth, 1930 at one-thirty o’clock. A.M. aged 86 years, eight months and four days.

Eighty-six years ago a life was sent to earth to bless its surroundings; on March twenty-sixth that life went back to the Father who gave it. Who can measure what those years have accomplished for those whom she came in contact with. Her amiable disposition and agreeable manner made it easy for her to have warm friendship and hold them. She was a lady whom all loved, most charitable in spirit, one of reliance, integrity, and becoming speech and conduct. She was a devoted and faithfull wife who was ever lenient, patient, and kind beyond the average under often most depressing conditions.

Her son, Martin, who is a most noble and generous character, has been with his parents faithfully the last few years. His gentleness was a great comfort to his mother, especially since the death of her husband, Andrew Engemoen which occurred February twenty-eight, 1930.

Mrs. Engemoen was ill two days only, death being caused by congestion of the lungs.

Those left to mourn her departure are an aged brother, Morton Mortenson of Harwood, N. Dak., an invalid who was unable to attend the funeral, three sons, namely, Emil of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Olaf of Valley City, N. Dak., and Martin who has been at home, four granddaughters and three grandsons.

Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Gosen church where a large group of friends gathered to pay their last respects to the departed one. Services were conducted by her able pastor, the Rev. J.A. Korshavn of Winger, who payed her a beautiful tribute. Besides giving words of comfort to the bereaved, he exhorted all to set an example as the deceased had in living the way the Father would have us do. Pall-bearers were Syver Nohre, Engebret Ostby, Olaus Flermoen, John Salveson, T. Salveson and P. Solie. The organist was Miss Flermoen.
