Old Pioneer Passed Away
Halfdan Engemoen, one of the pioneers of our community, passed away at about 7:30 last Sunday evening at his home north of the village. He had been ill for some time past. Mr. Engemoen has lived on his farm three miles north of the village for the past several years. He was one of the organizers of the Dovre Lutheran Free Church in the village. He had attained the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 18 days at the time of his death.

He was born in Trysil, Norway, on April 2nd, 1855, and came to America at the age of 14 years. He was married in 1877 in Douglas county, this state, and was the father of ten children, three now dead. The remaining children are Theodore at Woodside, Carl at Woodburn, Oregon, Albert and Halvor at Wadena, Sask., Mrs. Jack Bell, at home, Harold at St. Paul, and Mrs. Sam Stennes of St. Paul, who is visiting at home at the present time.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) afternoon from the Snustad Undertaking Parlors at 1 o’clock and from the Dovre Lutheran Free Church in the village at 2 o’clock. Rev. C. Ostby will officiate. Interment will be made at the Dovre Cemetery, three miles north of the village. The pall-bearers will be H.S. Aasen, P. Grambo, Ben B. Nornes, John Myhre, O. Flermoen, and Pete Solie.
