Last Rites Held for Christ Thorson in Zion Church Friday
Christ Thorson, a resident of Alaska township, Beltrami county, for the past 50 years, passed away at the Clearwater County Memorial hospital July 26, 1955.
Mr. Thorson was born in Douglas county, Minnesota on April 3, 1873 of parents Halvor and Anna Thorson. He lived around Pelican Rapids, Minn. during his early years. While a young man he was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Holmes City, Minn.
After he reached manhood he worked around the Fosston community for several years.
In the year 1904 he was united in marriage to Agnes Biri at Fosston. In the year 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Thorson moved from Fosston to Alaska township, Beltrami county and filed on a homestead. Mr Thorson lived on this farm until his death.
He has been in failing health for the past several years and was moved to the Clearwater Memorial Hospital at Bagley three months ago. He was a patient there until his death at 5:20 am on Tuesday. He had reached the age of 82 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Mr. Thorson was preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 1949, also by an infant daughter, Esther, in 1910.
He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Exline of Charles City, Iowa; Mrs. Ella Thompson and Mrs. Violet Stai, both of Pinewood MN; four sons, Bennie of Pinewood; Albert of Fairbanks, Alaska; Clifford of Minneapolis; Arthur of Bemidji; also one sister, Mrs. Hulda Goodboe of Minneapolis. There are 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Zion church, two miles north of Debs at 2 pm Friday July 29. Interment was made in the Island lake cemetery in the family lot. Rev. Streblow officiated.
